Top tips for planning the ultimate stag or hen weekend!

Updated: Sep 30, 2021

Whether you're a seasoned party planner or this is the first time you’re planning a stag/hen do. There is pressure to plan the perfect weekend away. Using these top tips will help you to plan the perfect do!

Organisation and Delegation -

If you are part of a group or planning this yourself – don’t panic! – write out your plan in some kind of notebook or spread sheet. You will have a number of things to keep track off and it is important to have it written out where possible. If you can, delegate certain activities to those around you. We are certain you will have many that will want to help you plan the best weekend away for your family and friends.

Set the budget up front -

Budget is one of the most important factors to decide on and should be done before any research goes into activities and locations. By setting the budget upfront will give people a chance to save up if needed and prevent any financial frustration with costs changing. We recommend sending a message out at the beginning to let everyone know roughly what they can expect the price to be per head. On average you can expect to be paying around £150-£200 per head to include accommodation, activities and any accessories needed, such as fancy dress. If you’re savvy, this can include food/booze, or you can advise that this will be added on top.

We recommend finding an activity that is priced per head this will ensure the price is guaranteed for everyone. If someone drops out, the rest of your group won't be left to pick up their share of the cost.

Location -

Pick somewhere that feels like a total

escape; a weekend at the beach, a city break or a countryside get away. Location is key. Try to find somewhere that is accessible for everyone in your group. Ideally somewhere with good transport links. Bristol and Bath are two of the most easily accessible cities in the UK, with excellent road, rail, bus and coach and even air links. As well as being easily accessible, they are known for their great food, nightlife and abundance of activities. There is something for everyone in the Bristol/Bath area.

Accommodation -

Once you have a rough idea of how many people can make your chosen date, it’s time to start researching accommodation. From hotels and Air BnB’s to renting out large country houses, glamping and traditional camping, there is something to suit all tastes and budgets.

Activities -

Once you have a set location in mind you can start to planning your activities. Ideally you want to keep travelling and logistics between the accommodation and your activity to a minimum.

Remember, this day is about your hen/stag, so above all make it fun, special and tailored to your best friend/family. Whether they would enjoy something active or something more crafty, don't forget to read reviews and cancellation policies online before you book.

Keep your audience in mind when you are deciding on what activities to do - are there any special requirements?
