COVID-19 Policies and Procedures
Discover Paddling has put in place rigorous COVID-19 procedures to ensure everyone stays safe when Discover Paddling.
Kayaking and Paddleboarding are the perfect socially distanced activity! However, we have put in a number of extra measures to ensure we keep safe. We will demonstrate all aspects of paddling with plenty of handy tips to ensure you are confident with your equipment.
Discover Paddling is COVID secure in line with the law.
Following the guidance from British Canoeing, Discover Paddling will be allowed to take groups greater than 6 onto the water from 29th March 2021.
'Covid secure outdoor activity can be delivered by Coaches, Leaders, Clubs and Delivery Partners - this can include an unlimited number of participants, provided that appropriate steps are taken to make it COVID-Secure in line with the law.'
Before your session
Customers must be in good health before considering booking a Discover Paddling session.
During our online booking, we specifically ask if you have COVID-19 symptoms, tested positive or been told to quarantine within the last 14 days. Anyone who confirms the above will be unable to book with us until they have passed the 14-day time scale.
Customers must inform Discover Paddling if they have COVID-19 symptoms, tested positive or been told to quarantine within the last 14 days since booking online.
The day of your session
Arriving prepared -
We ask all customers to arrive ready to go! Wearing sportswear is great if the weather is fine. If not, we strongly recommend bringing a jacket and/or wetsuit if you have one.
COVID-19 Symptoms -
Customers must inform Discover Paddling if they have shown any symptoms, contracted COVID-19 or been told to isolate, since booking their Discover Padding Session
Social Distancing -
Groups will be separated to ensure social distancing.
If you need support when on the water, we have a number of techniques and safety equipment to ensure we give you the help you need.
Water safety is are the greatest priority and we will make sure you are always paddling in safe conditions.
Through demonstration and clear explanation, we will ensure social distancing is maintained.
After your session
We will send you an email following your session to remind you to let us know if you have developed any COVID-19 symptoms following your session.
We will contact all individuals from your session and inform them to isolate and get a COVID-19 test and follow the government rules.
Refunds due to COVID-19 -
If you have COVID-19 symptoms within 48hrs of your pre-booked slot, please follow NHS guidelines and stay at home and order a free test.
To receive a full refund for your pre-booked slot we require you to forward your test results. Refunds will be given for a positive or negative result – we simply require you to have proof of your results along with the date and time.
We will not offer refunds for general illnesses.
If you are contacted by a track and tracer and told to self-isolate and are unable to make your session, you will be eligible for a refund but you will need to send us evidence of the isolation request along with the date and time.
Group bookings: We can only offer a refund for the individual with symptoms or track and trace requests, but not the whole group.
Travel quarantine: We can offer a free reschedule if you or your group is quarantined on return from holiday provided quarantine restrictions were not in place when you made your booking with us and you notify us within 24 hours of restrictions being in place. We may ask for proof of travel.
We will only offer to reschedule for those individuals affected by the restrictions. We will not offer a refund in this case.
Local lockdown: We can offer a free reschedule if you or your group is unable to visit following a local lockdown in your area, provided travel restrictions were not in place when you made your booking with us and you notify us within 24 hours of restrictions being in place. We may ask for proof of address. We will only offer to reschedule for those individuals affected by the restrictions. We will not offer a refund in this case.
These rules are subject to change on a daily basis following Government and National Governing Body Guidelines.
